About the event

Forest Lake Community Playgroup runs Wednesday mornings 9:30 – 11am at Forest Lake State School during school terms.  Our playgroup is a friendly and safe space where parents and carers are welcome to bring their children for playtime and fun activities while connecting with others over tea and coffee. The organised activities include sensory play, baby play space, playdough, painting, crafts, chalk boards, ball pit, home corner, toys, songs and games. Families have had a lot of fun attending playgroup and making friends. The conversations had and the relationships built at playgroup give support and encouragement to those caring for young children and the children who attend experience a sense of belonging and grow in confidence as they develop their skills, express their creativity and learn to socialise with their peers.

Christian volunteers run the playgroup to connect with the parents and grandparents who attend to encourage them and show them God’s love. They welcome those who arrive, ask them how they are going and offer them tea, coffee or hot chocolate. Everyone brings morning tea and we chat while eating then wash up, pack up and have a group time of songs and games. Through discussions we find out how we can be praying for and supporting the families that come and throughout the year some of the craft activities are focused on Christian celebrations such as the Easter and Christmas crafts . We end the year with a Christmas party where we present each child with a gift.
