Bumblebees
Find this term's outline here
Bumblebees is Forest Lake Baptist Church’s Sunday morning preschool ministry for 18 month old to pre-school aged children. Bumblebees is run at both the 8:30 and 10:15am services every Sunday during school term. Bumblebees aims to create positive church experiences for some of the youngest members of our church family that can be built on as they grow up and develop a faith of their own. We work with our bees and their families to ensure that church is a place that they feel safe and loved. At FLBC we believe that is our role as kids ministry leaders to partner with parents as the key disciple-makers in their children’s lives. As such, we all start together in big church to worship together and then parents take the bees to the bees room for some toddler-worship songs, a bible story and a craft activity. At FLBC we believe that every person is important to God, designed uniquely by God and so we welcome all children of all abilities and strive to provide a safe and loving environment for all children to come and feel like they belong. If you have any concerns about your child’s needs and how we can best accommodate your family at church, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Mel Watson (0450121248).
At the moment we are using a curriculum called Living Words. This resource has been developed for Australian churches. We use this curriculum to plan which passage of the bible we read each week to help the young people of our church family learn more about the character and nature of God. This term at bumblebees, we’ll be learning about God’s Old Words, The Wise Words, which include the Writings and the Wisdom Literature of the Old Testament. These books teach us about how people faithfully lived long ago with God as their Great King. They also show us how we can live faithfully. If you’re looking to support your child’s learning, you could read through the book of Psalms or the book of Proverbs. There are also some wonderful books for younger children in these areas by authors such as Sally Lloyd-Jones and Marie-Hélène Delval in addition to children’s Bibles such as The Beginner’s Bible, by Zonderkidz and The Bible for Toddlers by Juliet David.

Kidzone
Kidzone is Forest Lake Baptist Church’s Sunday morning primary school ministry. We run kidzone at both the 8:30 and 10:15 services every Sunday morning during the school term for preps to grade 6. At FLBC we believe that parents are called to be the key disciplers of their children and so as a church we aim to partner with families, to support them in discipling their children. On a Sunday morning we all start together in big church to worship together and then before the sermon, the kids and their leaders go down to the activity hall for some more worship, a big group lesson and then small groups (in grade levels) for craft before parents and carers come to pick their children up again.

This term at kidzone we will be learning about God’s Old Words, the Poems. We will be looking at the books of Psalms, Job, Ezekiel and Habakkuk. If you’re looking to support your child’s learning, reading through these books will familiarise the children with the content we’ll be teaching in our lessons. You could use the NIrV, which is a simpler version of the NIV, specially designed for young readers. You can also find most of the stories for these lessons in The Complete Illustrated Children’s Bible, by Janice Emmerson and, for a simpler version, The Beginner’s Bible, by Zonderkidz.

Playgroup
Playgroup is an outreach ministry of Forest Lake Baptist Church that meets every Wednesday morning at Forest Lake State School from 9:30-11am. Our playgroup is a friendly and safe space where parents and carers are welcome to bring their children for playtime and fun activities while connecting with others over tea and coffee. We aim to create a space for conversation and relationships to be formed that provide support and encouragement to those caring for young children. The children who attend experience a sense of belonging and grow in their confidence as the develop new skills, express their creativity and learn to socialise with their peers.
If you would like more details about playgroup or if you are interested in coming along, please contact Sandy on playgroup@flbc.org.au or Mel Watson on melanie.watson@flbc.org.au /0450121248
